Power-ups are special abilities that player can get on a track, which they can use to assist them in a race. When player a gets a power-up it's icon will show up on the back of their vehicle. A player can only carry three power-ups at a time. Power-up icons are scattered in groups at particularly areas on a level and occasionally in random spots. The imagery and color of the icons indicate which power-up they contain. When a player drives through an icon they get the power-up. Icons disappear when they are hit, but quickly respawn. Many modifications can be used that improve power-ups.

Shunt Shunt A projectile which flips cars. By default it fires forward, acting as a homing missile. When fired backwards, it fires in a straight line. It can be destroyed by other shunts, mines, a barge hit or two bolt hits. If it is hit by a single bolt, the power of the shunt is decreased, so that when it hits a car, it will only ram it, instead of flipping it, causing a lower speed loss. Shunt cartoon
Shock
Shock
Launches three EMP columns in the path of the race leader, which stun any car that passes through them. The three columns will appear alternating between the sides of the road. When run into, each column will disappear. Shock cartoon
Mine
Mine
An explosive sphere that explodes on impact, spinning cars out of control. By default it's left behind the car, remaining static on the track. If fired fowards, it can be used to attack cars that are a short distance straight ahead. If a forward-fired mine doesn't hit a target, it will remain on the track like when it's fired regularly. Nitro
Nitro
A burst of speed. When fired backwards, causes you to airbrake, completely stopping your car for a second, during which you are allowed to maneuver, followed by a burst of speed. Not depending on wheel traction, it can be with activated equal effectiveness while airborne. Nitro can also be used to aid in sudden maneuvering, such as extreme cornering, performing long drifts, and quickly recovering from attacks. Nitro cartoon
Barge
Barge
A close range attack that forces cars away. Can also be used to defend against incoming attacks, being able to deflect shunts, mines and hits. Barge cartoon
Shield
Shield
Protects you from powerup impacts and collision damage for a limited amount of time. Shield cartoon
Bolt
Bolt
Fire up to three bolt rounds that cause cars to swerve. Can be fired backwards. Landing all three of them deals increased damage. Bolt cartoon
Repair
Repair
Restores your car's health to full, in addition to fixing any exterior damage. Essential when at damage critical. Repair cartoon

Notes

  • In an earlier version of the game, the power-up icons had the power-up's title above the icon. In an even earlier version, they where much more cylindrical.
